New Contracts/Application

New customers are required to fill out an application in person at their customer service office as early as possible but in all cases before March 31. Applicants must meet Crop Insurance's eligibility requirements in order to obtain a contract.

Endorsement

As a contract holder, you have been sent an endorsement package listing the insurance selections you made in 2007. Your contract is continuous; your selections will remain the same for 2008 unless you make changes. The deadline to make your endorsement changes for all Crop Insurance programs is March 31, 2008.

Review your endorsements and make desired changes to your coverage levels on crops previously
insured and/or additional crops you wish to insure or delete. Confirmation of your selections will be
sent to you; it is your responsibility to report any errors or omissions immediately.

Premiums are charged on acres seeded to crops selected for insurance. There is no charge for
endorsing crops you do not grow.
A Statement of Insurance will be mailed to you in the summer
confirming your coverage.

Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your Crop Insurance contract, the corporation requires notification in writing by March 31, 2008. The cancellation notification must contain the signatures of all parties named on the contract.

Land

As part of the Crop Insurance contract, producers must insure all land they own and operate. All land changes should be made early to avoid loss of liability. All land changes (additions or deletions) are subject to approval. Field checks may be required to determine eligibility.

Land additions or deletions should be made as soon as you are aware of the change.

Land can be added to your contract after the March 31 deadline but the crops on those acres must have been endorsed by March 31, 2008 to be insurable. If you are adding land, notify your customer service office before seeding any additional acres. These acres may not be eligible for insurance if damage occurs before you notify Crop Insurance or complete your Seeded Acreage Report.

Land rental or sale arrangements may be required to verify land changes.
