Complete Your Seeded Acreage Report and Stored Grain Declaration Today
By now, you should have received your Seeded Acreage Report and Stored Grain Declaration form in the mail. The deadline to complete and submit this information to Crop Insurance is June 25, 2008.

Crop Insurance uses the information you provide on your Seeded Acreage Report to calculate your level of insurance and process your claims. You do not have Crop Insurance coverage until your acres are reported on your Seeded Acreage Report. If you suffer a crop loss and have not reported your acres by June 25, your claim may be denied.

Your Stored Grain Declaration is also important to providing accurate claim payments as stored grain not reported will be considered new production in the event of a yield-loss claim. You must report all stored grain on your farm or at another location, whether the crop is insured or not.

You can phone, fax, mail or drop off your Seeded Acreage Report and Stored Grain Declaration information at any customer service office. CropConnect customers can also submit their Seeded Acreage Report information online. Blank forms are available on the Crop Insurance website under Forms.

If you fail to submit or are late, you may be assessed a penalty of $60 and, if necessary, an adjuster will visit your farm to collect the information at an additional charge.

If you have any questions or require assistance to complete your information, please contact Crop Insurance toll-free at 1-888-935-0000.

What if Your Crop Fails to Establish?
Crop Insurance offers an Establishment Benefit for spring-seeded crops that fail to adequately establish or suffer significant damage by June 20.

You may be eligible for a payment of $20 to $30 per acre, depending on the crop.

If you feel it is necessary to reseed or work down a portion of your insured crop prior to June 20, you must contact Crop Insurance immediately. An adjuster must inspect those acres before they are reseeded or destroyed.

Insurance may be purchased on the reseeded acres even if the crop was not previously selected. If the reseeded crop was selected, those acres will continue to be insured.

Crop Insurance also offers an Organic Reseeding Benefit for organic crops, a Forage Establishment Benefit Option for forage acres, and establishment coverage for acres insured under the Diversification Option.

The Unseeded Acreage feature provides coverage of $50 per eligible claim acre. Eligible claim acres are the acres you normally seed and insure that remain unseeded by June 20 due to excessive spring moisture. A five per cent deductible of the acres normally seeded is applied to quarters with acres too wet to seed.

To learn more about how your Unseeded Acreage claim is calculated, check “ Your Complete Guide to Understanding Crop Insurance”. To register an Unseeded Acreage claim, contact Crop Insurance before June 25.

Gopher Damage Feature
Crop Insurance includes gopher damage as an insurable cause of loss under both the establishment benefit and yield-loss components of the multi-peril program.

The Gopher Damage Feature is intended to provide customers an opportunity to control the gopher population. Compensation is provided at $50 per acre for crop acres destroyed by gophers during the period the establishment benefit would be payable.

The deadline for gopher damage claims is the date yield-loss coverage began for that crop (June 20; June 30 for greenfeed), after which further damage is eligible for yield-loss coverage only.

If you choose to file an establishment claim, standard establishment eligibility applies. Any subsequent crop seeded on those acres is eligible for further establishment and yield-loss coverage.
