2007 Program Highlights
The 2007 Crop Insurance Program is designed to provide you with coverage tailored to meet the needs of your individual operation.

Our strong, core multi-peril program features production guarantees based on your yield information, and offers coverage for a variety of crops, including:

Weather-Based Insurance

  • Annual Crop Weather-Based Insurance Program - provides coverage for lack of precipitation or an early fall frost.
    • Note: The Annual Crop Weather-Based Insurance Program is an area-based program; claims are calculated strictly on the weather data collected at designated, customer-selected weather stations. This is a simple program, requiring little paperwork on the part of the producer and no inspections.
  • Forage Rainfall Insurance Program - protects pastureland against a lack of precipitation.
  • Corn Heat Unit Pilot Program - provides coverage to feed and grain corn producers within the insurable area.

It is important that you discuss the program features and options with your customer service office.

Weather-based programs are not individual production programs. If you are looking for this type of insurance, ask about Crop Insurance's multi-peril program.

Important Deadlines for 2007
Crop Insurance deadlines can be found in each of your 2007 program guides and online under CI Calendar.

The deadline to apply for, make changes to, or cancel your 2007 contract of insurance is March 31.

2007 Insured Prices
The 2007 Insured Prices are now available online for commercial, forage, organic, and pedigree crops.

Crop Insurance now offers three additional price options for the 2007 multi-peril insurance program:

  • Variable Price Option - your insured price will change to reflect changes in the market price. Available for commercial or organic crops.
  • Contract Price Option - enables you to ensure your eligible crops based on the price at which you have contracted the crop. Also available for both commercial and organic crops.
  • Low Price Option - allows you to insure at 85 per cent of the base price (reducing both premiums and coverage) without lowering the claim threshold.

Generic premium and coverage calculators and CropConnect applications are now available online.
