A job competition is being held to fill the following position in the Information Technology Division:

SYSTEMS ANALYST
(Level 7)

Location: Melville
Status: Temporary

Duties:

  • This position reports to a Systems Project Co-ordinator and is responsible for maintaining and upgrading various computer applications.
  • With guidance from the Systems Project Co-ordinator, the Systems Analyst consults with users from other divisions to determine the feasibility of computer applications to solve a wide variety of problems associated with the corporation's activities.
  • Identify problems, propose alternatives and implement solutions with respect to both manual and computer applications.
  • Write programs, systems specifications and documentation for various computer applications.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of programs via unit testing.
  • Prepare requirements for assigned projects.
  • Make suggestions to systems personnel about possible improvements in workflow and computer applications.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary degree/diploma in computer science with a minimum of two (2) years experience in computer programming and systems analysis in a business environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience with at least one programming language (minimum 5 months). Preference will be given to applicants who have RPG IV experience.
  • Knowledge of database structures, along with the capability of developing and running queries.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise software documentation.
  • Ability to speak effectively, explaining proposed applications to division heads and other division personnel.
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be subject to a criminal record check.

Probation Period: One year

Benefits: According to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees' Union.
