A
job competition is being held to fill the following position in the Field Operations Division:
FIELDPERSONS
(Level 4)
Location: Weyburn
Status: Temporary
Duties:
These positions report to the Customer Service Office Manager/Field Supervisor and are responsible for the following duties:
- Crop adjusting consistently using Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation's established methods.
- Perform crop inspections on farms and gather data in order to determine indemnities for programs administered by Saskatchewan Crop Insurance.
- Submit claims neatly, accurately and completely.
- Accurate acreage and bin measurements.
- Maintain good public relations for the corporation.
Qualifications:
- Grade XII with a detailed knowledge of farming practices and crops. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance programs would be a definite asset.
- Knowledge of, with an ability to identify, crop disease, insect damage and other causes of crop yield loss.
- Ability to work independently and follow procedures, while accurately completing counts and measurements.
- Clear, legible handwriting skills.
- Experience successfully performing mathematical calculations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal directly with the farming public in a tactful manner.
- Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex policies and procedures in layperson terms.
- Demonstrated ability in exercising good judgement, exhibiting initiative, and applying common sense where situations arise that are not covered by policies or procedures.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Must be able to walk long distances for field measurements and climb ladders and bins to make grain measurements.
- Good knowledge of computer applications with a preference for data entry experience.
Conditions
- Valid driver's licence and a safe, suitable vehicle to carry out responsibilities.
- Willingness to travel throughout the province and availability to work on short notice.
- Preference will be given to local candidates.
- The successful applicant will be subject to a criminal record check.
Benefits: According to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees' Union.
