About Us

Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) is a provincial Treasury Board Crown Corporation under the portfolio of the Minister of Agriculture. SCIC is responsible for administering three programs:

Crop Insurance (AgriInsurance),
AgriStability (beginning with the 2009 program year), and
Wildlife Damage Compensation Program

SCIC provides local service to Saskatchewan producers and continues to focus on its progress to meet the changing needs of the province's farmers and ranchers. Find a local customer service office.

SCIC has developed strategic themes that correspond to the goals and direction of the Government of Saskatchewan. Where the government aims for economic growth, accountability and support of Saskatchewan families, SCIC will focus on producers, accountability and leadership.

Growing Forward Agreement

Although the Corporation is an agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Growing Forward federal-provincial agreement provides the structure and guiding principles for the programs it offers. Growing Forward features a business risk suite consisting of four key components, two of which are administered by SCIC:

• AgriInvest: a savings account for producers that provides flexible coverage for small income declines and supports investments to mitigate risks or improve market income;

• AgriStability: a margin-based program that provides income support when a producer experiences larger income losses;

• AgriRecovery: a disaster relief framework that allows governments to provide rapid assistance to fill gaps not covered by existing government programs; and

• AgriInsurance (Crop Insurance): an existing production insurance program and other insurance products, which will expand to include other commodities.
